Some thoughts about Syracuse University: As just completing 20 years of service at the university, most of my opinions have been formed as an employee.  SU is a staple not only as a high institution for education but also one of the largest employers in the region. When people ask, where do you work, and you tell them SU, it means something, from a professor to a food service worker there is a sense of pride working here.  Having just enrolled this semester working on my degree as a student so far I have found this university to be very supportive, from teaching staff to my own co-workers to allow a modified schedule so that you can attend classes to better yourself, now that’s a great working and learning environment. My goal is to have my degree wrapped up in about seven more years as a part time student. Having my degree in engineering will aid in my professional development, and give me a sense of pride that I have chosen to peruse. Whether it be done while I was 20 or now, at 40 plus years old, I am excited about working through the program, eager to learn, meet new people both faculty and students, learn about new prospective, and cultures.

A Little about Myself:  I was born and raised here in the Central NY area.  My mother re-married my stepfather when I was 10 years old.  He being a Methodist minister we lived in several towns throughout upstate New York.  Being a minister is similar to military service, we are re-assigned a new church every two to three years. I have attended six different school districts.  I call Kirkville NY my hometown because that is where my grandparents lived, we would travel back home to Kirkville for visits.

I am married to my best friend Cyndy and have two beautiful daughters.

I have worked here at the university since 1998; I started working in the Energy Management office dispatching HVAC and maintenance alarms. In my 20 years of service I have worked my way through the organization as a service technician, Automation Engineer, and now as the Associate Director of Energy Management Services. Our job here as a team is to save the university money, while ensuring occupant comfort.

As for my personal life, my biggest passion is Quarter Midget racing with my 11 year old daughter .This is our 3rd season of racing.  Both of my girls were into racing until my oldest became too old to race quarter midgets.  I look at this as not only an opportunity to race, but also making wonderful memories; this is a rare sport that takes the entire family to participate.  We race at the Syracuse Quarter midget club located at the New York State fairgrounds every Friday. Although the kids are verify competitive on the track, they are best of friends when off the track.  This family environment is a great place to teach kids sportsman like conduct.  Other race families are supportive both on and off the track we are like a large extended family.  We travel to out of town races to complete at both regional and national levels.

Name of High School: Chittenango

A Little about My Former High School: As noted above we relocated quite often. I spent 9th grade at Watertown High, 10th grade at Horseheads High, and finishing 11th and 12th grades at Chittenango High.  Chittenango high is a medium size high school located in western Madison County. It has a graduating class of about 175. Chittenango was a quiet school, because I spent most of my high school time enrolled in B.O.C.E.S. program in the automotive repair program to include engine rebuilding and later auto body repair, I found myself in a smaller group of friends that were also enrolled in similar vocational programs.  The school had it typical clicks and groups.  The school spirit was pretty focused on out major sports such as football.  Teacher were very supportive, some of which we considered “old school” but looking back, they delivered the course material and keep us on track. Overall this was a nice school in a rural village.
